Privacy Notice

This Notice is effective as of July 14, 2016 and was last updated November 27, 2018

This Privacy Notice tells you what personal information Science 37 collects from our website, how we use and share this information, and how we protect your privacy. If you enroll in a Science 37 clinical trial, you will receive detailed information about data collection during the clinical trial process and you will be asked for your consent for such data collection. This Notice addresses collection and use of data by Science 37 through its website.

Reason for Collection of Your Information
You are not required to share your personal information in order to view the Science 37 website. You can freely visit many of our web pages without telling us who you are. However, other activities possible through our site, such as completing an interest form for a specific clinical trial, require that you provide personal details, including but not limited to information about your medical history, demographics, email address and name. This allows us to contact you and/or send you information that you request about specific clinical trials. We may also send you messages related to Science 37 activities, such as requests to participate in surveys about patient experience. You can opt out of these communications at any time by emailing privacy@science37.com and writing “Unsubscribe” in the subject line. We will email you to confirm your request to no longer receive Science 37 communications. Information you share with Science 37 may also be used by Science 37 and our partners to make internal improvements, such as to clinical trial enrollment.

Personal Information Collected From You
The information that we collect on our website, with your consent, includes your first and last name, address, age, birth date, race, gender, email address, and information about your medical history.

Consolidation of Information Collected From You
If you indicate interest in more than one study, or sign up on multiple pages, we may combine your personal information as well as any anonymous computer information collected (see below) and store it all together. This helps us keep track of all of your information in one place, and helps us provide information to you based on a more informed review of your requests and interests.

Collection of Anonymous Computer Information
When you visit the Science 37 website, we collect anonymous information about you if your computer is set to allow that type of collection. (You can turn off the ability to collect some of this information on most computers.) This type of anonymous information allows us to evaluate interest in our website and perform other market research activities, such as analyzing visitors’ browsing habits on our site. It also allows us to track visitors who may come to our website based on web-based advertisements for Science 37 services. Some of the typical computer techniques we may use are “cookies”, “internet tags” which are also called “action tags”, “single-pixel GIFs”, clear GIFs, “invisible GIFs”, and “1-by-1 GIFs.” If you would like more information about web tags and cookies associated with on-line advertising or how to opt out of third party collection of information, please visit the Network Advertising Initiative website (https://www.networkadvertising.org), an independent website not sponsored by or affiliated with Science 37.

Sharing Your Information With Third Parties
Science 37 will not share your personal information with third parties unless we have obtained your consent to do so. You provide your consent when you click ‘submit’ at the end of the interest form. Your personal information may then be shared with selected personnel and partners working on clinical trials or other Science 37 activities described in this Privacy Notice. There may also be instances where Science 37 may be required by law to share your information as ordered or directed by courts or other governmental agencies. In these cases, unless otherwise required by law, the information shared is de-identified.

Security of Your Information
We use appropriate technical, administrative and physical safeguards to protect data that pertains to you from loss, misuse or alteration. In addition, we take steps to ensure that our safeguards take into account new known threats. We restrict access to your personal information to only individuals who have a need to know the information to provide the services described in this Privacy Notice. However, no organization can guarantee the absolute security of personal information. You should keep in mind that Internet transmissions, particularly email transmissions, are never 100% secure or error-free. Accordingly, we also encourage you to guard your own computer and password against unauthorized access by others.
